حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ حَمَّادَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ عَنْ صَدَقَةِ الْفِطْرِ فَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ نُعْمَانَ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنِ ابن ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي صُعَيْرٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " أَدُّوا صَاعًا مِنْ قَمْحٍ ، أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ بُرٍّ وَشَكَّ حَمَّادٌ عَنْ كُلِّ اثْنَيْنِ ، صَغِيرٍ أَوْ كَبِيرٍ ، ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنْثَى ، حُرٍّ أَوْ مَمْلُوكٍ ، غَنِيٍّ أَوْ فَقِيرٍ ، أَمَّا غَنِيُّكُمْ فَيُزَكِّيهِ اللَّهُ ، وَأَمَّا فَقِيرُكُمْ ، فَيُرَدُّ عَلَيْهِ أَكْثَرُ مِمَّا يُعْطِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Thalabah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed the people two days before Eid al-Fitr and said: "Give one sa’ of wheat or barley between two people, or one sa’ of dates or one sa’ of barley for every free and slave, young and old. Allah Almighty, through its blessing, will purify the wealth of your rich and grant even more to the needy."
