قَالَ قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ : وَجَدْتُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ فِي كِتَابِ أَبِي بِخَطِّهِ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّ أَخْوَفَ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ الشِّرْكُ الْأَصْغَرُ ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَمَا الشِّرْكُ الْأَصْغَرُ ؟ قَالَ : الرِّيَاءُ ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يَقُولُ يَوْمَ تُجَازَى الْعِبَادُ بِأَعْمَالِهِمْ : " اذْهَبُوا إِلَى الَّذِينَ كُنْتُمْ تُرَاءُونَ بِأَعْمَالِكُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا ، فَانْظُرُوا هَلْ تَجِدُونَ عِنْدَهُمْ جَزَاءً " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What I fear most for you is minor shirk." The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by minor shirk?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Showing off (riya)." Allah Almighty will say to the show-offs on the Day of Judgment, "When people are being rewarded for their deeds, go to those for whom you used to perform deeds to be seen by them in the world, and see if you find any reward with them."
