It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out from Madinah Munawwarah with the intention of Makkah Mukarramah in the year of the conquest of Makkah during the month of Ramadan. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the Muslims were fasting, but when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the place of Kadid, he called for a vessel and placed it on his hand so that everyone could see, then he broke his fast, and the Muslims also broke their fast.
