It is narrated from Hazrat Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us and led us in the Maghrib prayer in our mosque. After finishing the prayer, regarding the two Sunnah rak‘ahs after Maghrib, he said: "Perform these two rak‘ahs in your homes."
Abu Abdur Rahman says: I asked my father, Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him), that someone says if a person performs the two rak‘ahs after Maghrib in the mosque, it is not permissible except that he performs them at home, because the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is among the prayers of the home." He (Imam Ahmad) asked: "Who says this?" I replied: "Muhammad bin Abdur Rahman." He said: "He has spoken well."
