A man from the people of Makkah says that Yazid bin Muawiyah was the commander of the army in which Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) also participated in jihad. Yazid came to visit him during his illness of death, so he said to him: "When I die, convey my greetings to the people and inform them that I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever dies in such a state that he does not associate anyone with Allah, Allah will admit him to Paradise.' And keep carrying me along, and as far as possible, keep taking me forward into the land of Rome." When Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, Yazid conveyed these things to the people. The people put on their weapons and set out carrying his funeral.
