حَدَّثَنَا عَبدُ الصَّمَدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ الْيَشْكُرِيِّ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، هَلْ بعْدَ هَذَا الْخَيْرِ شَرٌّ كَمَا كَانَ قَبلَهُ شَرٌّ ؟ قَالَ : " يَا حُذَيْفَةُ ، اقْرَأْ كِتَاب اللَّهِ وَاعْمَلْ بمَا فِيهِ " ، فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي ، فَأَعَدْتُ عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ، وَعَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ إِنْ كَانَ خَيْرًا اتَّبعْتُهُ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ شَرًّا اجْتَنَبتُهُ ، فَقُلْتُ : هَلْ بعْدَ هَذَا الْخَيْرِ مِنْ شَرٍّ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، فِتْنَةٌ عَمْيَاءُ عَمَّاءُ صَمَّاءُ ، وَدُعَاةُ ضَلَالَةٍ عَلَى أَبوَاب جَهَنَّمَ ، مَنْ أَجَابهُمْ قَذَفُوهُ فِيهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day I submitted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, "O Messenger of Allah! Will there be evil after this good?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Hudhaifa! Learn the Book of Allah and follow its commands." (He said this three times.) I then repeated my question. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "There will be tribulation and evil." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Will there be evil after this good?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said three times, "Hudhaifa! Learn the Book of Allah and follow its commands." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Will there be evil after this good?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "There will be reconciliation established upon smoke and agreement upon filth." I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by reconciliation established upon smoke?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "People will not be pleased with this reconciliation in their hearts." Then the same questions and answers occurred between me and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A tribulation will come that will make one blind and deaf. Upon it, there will be people appointed who will call towards the doors of Hell. Whoever accepts their invitation, they will throw him into Hell."
