It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to teach him this supplication just as he would teach a surah from the Noble Qur'an, and he used to say: "Say like this: «اَللّٰهُمَّإِنِّيأَعُوذُبِكَمِنْعَذَابِجَهَنَّمَوَأَعُوذُبِكَمِنْعَذَابِالْقَبْرِوَأَعُوذُبِكَمِنْشَرِّالْمَسِيحِالدَّجَّالِوَأَعُوذُبِكَمِنْفِتْنَةِالْمَحْيَاوَالْمَمَاتِ» 'O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the punishment of Hell, from the punishment of the grave, from the trial of the False Messiah (Dajjal), and from the trials of life and death.'"
