حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ أَبي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ عَبدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بنِ يَزِيدَ ، قَالَ : قُلْنَا لِحُذَيْفَةَ : أَخْبرْنَا عَنْ أَقْرَب النَّاسِ سَمْتًا برَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَأْخُذْ عَنْه وَنَسْمَعْ مِنْهُ ، فَقَالَ : " كَانَ أَشْبهُ النَّاسِ سَمْتًا وَدَلًّا وَهَدْيًا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ابنَ أُمِّ عَبدٍ " .
Abdur Rahman bin Yazid says that once we went to Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) and said to him, "Tell us about a person who is the closest to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in manners and character, so that we may learn these ways from him and listen to hadith from him." He replied, "In character and manners, the one who most resembled the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was Ibn Mas'ud."
