ومن مسند بني هاشمFrom the Musnad of Banu Hashim
مُسْنَدُ عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمَاMusnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them)
Hadith 2336

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ الْبَطِينِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ أُمِّي مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا صَوْمُ شَهْرٍ ، أَفَأَقْضِيهِ عَنْهَا ؟ فَقَالَ : " لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أُمِّكَ دَيْنٌ أَكُنْتَ قَاضِيَهُ عَنْهَا ؟ " , قَالَ : نَعَمْ , قَالَ : " فَدَيْنُ اللَّهِ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُقْضَى " , قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ : فَقَالَ الْحَكَمُ ، وَسَلَمَةُ بْنُ كُهَيْلٍ : وَنَحْنُ جَمِيعًا جُلُوسٌ ، حِينَ حَدَّثَ مُسْلِمٌ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، قَالَا : سَمِعْنَا مُجَاهِدًا ، يَذْكُرُ هَذَا عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! My mother has passed away, and she had a month's worth of fasts due upon her. Can I make them up on her behalf? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tell me, if your mother had a debt, would you pay it off or not?" He said: Of course. The Prophet said: "Then Allah's debt is more deserving of being paid."
