حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ إِبرَاهِيمَ بنِ مُهَاجِر ، عَنْ رِبعِيِّ بنِ حِرَاشٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مَنْ لَمْ يَكْذِبنِي يَعْنِي حُذَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : " لَقِيَ النَّبيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جِبرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام وَهُوَ عِنْدَ أَحْجَارِ الْمِرَاءِ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ أُمَّتَكَ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى سَبعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ ، فَمَنْ قَرَأَ مِنْهُمْ عَلَى حَرْفٍ ، فَلْيَقْرَأْ كَمَا عَلِمَ وَلَا يَرْجِعْ عَنْهُ " ، قَالَ أَبي : وَقَالَ ابنُ مَهْدِيٍّ : إِنَّ مِنْ أُمَّتِكَ الضَّعِيفَ ، فَمَنْ قَرَأَ عَلَى حَرْفٍ فَلَا يَتَحَوَّلْ مِنْهُ إِلَى غَيْرِهِ رَغْبةً عَنْهُ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Hazrat Jibreel Amin came to meet the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was at a place called Ahjar al-Mara, and he said: "The people of your Ummah can recite the Noble Qur'an on seven modes (ahruf). Whoever among them wishes to recite according to a particular recitation, let him recite in the manner he has been taught and not turn away from it."
