حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبو مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيُّ ، عَنْ رِبعِيِّ بنِ حِرَاشٍ ، عَنْ أَبي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، وَعَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَا : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَانَ رَجُلٌ مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبلَكُمْ يَعْمَلُ بالْمَعَاصِي ، فَلَمَّا حَضَرَهُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ : إِذَا أَنَا مُتُّ فَأَحْرِقُونِي ، ثُمَّ اطْحَنُونِي ، ثُمَّ ذَرُّونِي فِي الْبحْرِ فِي يَوْمِ رِيحٍ عَاصِفٍ ، قَالَ : فَلَمَّا مَاتَ فَعَلُوا ، قَالَ : فَجَمَعَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِي يَدِهِ ، فقَالَ لَهُ : مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ ؟ قَالَ : خَوْفُكَ ! قَالَ : فَإِنِّي قَدْ غَفَرْتُ لَكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the people before you there was a man who used to commit sinful deeds. When his death approached, he said to his family: When I die, burn me in fire, then crush my ashes, then on a day when a strong wind is blowing, scatter my ashes in the air. When he died, his family did as he had instructed. Allah gathered him in His power and asked him: What made you do this? He said: Your fear. Allah said: I have forgiven you.
