It is narrated from Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when we used to participate in a meal with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we would not put our hands into the food until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began first. Once, in the same manner, we were participating in a meal with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Meanwhile, a slave girl came, and it seemed as if someone was pushing her; she was about to put her hand into the food when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) caught her hand. Then a Bedouin came, and it seemed as if someone was pushing him; he was about to put his hand into the food when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) caught his hand as well. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the name of Allah is not mentioned over the food, Satan considers it lawful for himself. So, first, he came with this slave girl so that he could make the food lawful for himself, but I caught her hand. Then he came with this Bedouin so that through him he could make the food lawful for himself, but I caught his hand as well. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, Satan's hand is with their hands in my hand."
