Hadith 23230

It is narrated from an Ansari companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Horses are of three kinds: (1) Those horses which a person prepares for jihad in the way of Allah—their price is a source of reward, riding them is a source of reward, lending them is a source of reward, and feeding them is a source of reward; (2) Those horses which entrap a person in the shell of arrogance and he enters them in races for betting—their price is a cause of burden and feeding them is a cause of burden; (3) Those horses which serve a person’s livelihood—soon these horses will become a means of removing his poverty and hunger, insha’Allah.
