It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once Abu Jahl passed by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Did I not forbid you?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) rebuked him. He said: "Muhammad! You are rebuking me even though you know that no one in this entire city has a greater assembly than mine?" Upon this, Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) descended with this verse: «﴿فَلْيَدْعُنَادِيَهُ﴾ [العلق : 17]» "Let him call his assembly," Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: If he had called his companions, the angels of punishment, "Zabaniyah," would have seized him.
