حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبةُ ، عَنْ أَبي عِمْرَانَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِجُنْدُب : إِنِّي قَدْ بايَعْتُ هَؤُلَاءِ يَعْنِي ابنَ الزُّبيْرِ إنَهُمْ يُرِيدُونَ أَنْ أَخْرُجَ مَعَهُمْ إِلَى الشَّامِ ، فَقَالَ : أَمْسِكْ عَلَيْكَ ، فَقُلْتُ : إِنَّهُمْ يَأْبوْنَ ، فَقَالَ : افْتَدِ بمَالِكَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : إِنَّهُمْ يَأْبوْنَ إِلَّا أَنْ أَضْرِب مَعَهُمْ بالسَّيْفِ ، فَقَالَ جُنْدُب : حَدَّثَنِي فُلَانٌ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " يَجِيءُ الْمَقْتُولُ بقَاتِلِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، فَيَقُولُ : يَا رَب ، سَلْ هَذَا فِيمَ قَتَلَنِي ؟ " ، قَالَ شُعْبةُ : وَأَحْسِبهُ قَالَ : " فَيَقُولُ : عَلَامَ قَتَلْتَهُ ؟ " ، قَالَ : " فَيَقُولُ : قَتَلْتُهُ عَلَى مُلْكِ فُلَانٍ " ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ جُنْدُب : فَاتَّقِهَا.
Abu Imran (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I said to Jundub that I have pledged allegiance to Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him). These people want me to go with them to Syria. Jundub said, "Do not go." I said, "They will not let me do otherwise." He said, "Save yourself by giving financial ransom." I said, "They are not willing to accept anything except that I go with them and display my swordsmanship." Upon this, Jundub said, "Such-and-such a person narrated this hadith to me, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, the murdered person will bring his killer before Allah and say, 'O Lord! Ask him for what reason he killed me?' So Allah will ask him, 'For what reason did you kill him?' He will say, 'Because of so-and-so's government.' Therefore, you should beware of this."
