حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ أَبو عَبدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبدُ الْمَلِكِ بنُ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ مُنِيب ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ ، قَالَ : بلَغَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَاب النَّبيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَاب النَّبيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ النَّبيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " مَنْ سَتَرَ أَخَاهُ الْمُسْلِمَ فِي الدُّنْيَا ، سَتَرَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " ، فَرَحَلَ إِلَيْهِ وَهُوَ بمِصْرَ ، فَسَأَلَهُ عَنِ الْحَدِيثِ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ سَتَرَ أَخَاهُ الْمُسْلِمَ فِي الدُّنْيَا ، سَتَرَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ : وَأَنَا قَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever conceals the faults of his Muslim brother in this world, Allah will conceal his faults on the Day of Resurrection. When another Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) learned of this hadith, he packed his belongings and set out for the Companion who lived in Egypt. Upon reaching there, he asked, "Did you hear the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say this?" He replied in the affirmative. Then the traveling Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I too heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say this."
