Hadith 23184

حَدَّثَنَا أَبو عَبدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ يَعْنِي ابنَ أَبي أَيُّوب ، حَدَّثَنِي بكْرُ بنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَبدِ اللَّهِ بنِ هُبيْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَبدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بنِ جُبيْرٍ , أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ رَجُلٌ خَدَمَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَمَانِ سِنِينَ أَوْ تِسْعَ سِنِينَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا قُرِّب لَهُ طَعَامٌ يَقُولُ : " بسْمِ اللَّهِ " ، فَإِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ طَعَامِهِ ، قَالَ : " اللهم أَطْعَمْتَ وَأَسْقَيْتَ ، وَأَغْنَيْتَ وَأَقْنَيْتَ ، وَهَدَيْتَ وَاجْتَبيْتَ ، فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلَى مَا أَعْطَيْتَ " .
It is narrated from a servant of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "who served the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for eight years," that whenever food was presented before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he would begin by saying Bismillah, and when he finished eating, he would recite this supplication: O Allah! You have fed and given drink, granted sufficiency and sustenance, You have granted guidance and life; all praise is due to You for Your bounties.
