Hadith 23172

حَدَّثَنَا عَبدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبي أُمَامَةَ بنِ سَهْلِ بنِ حُنَيْفٍ ، عَنْ بعْضِ أَصْحَاب النَّبيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " بيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيَّ ، وَعَلَيْهِمْ قُمُصٌ مِنْهَا مَا يَبلُغُ الثَّدْيَ ، وَمنها مَا يَبلُغُ أَسْفَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَعُرِضَ عَلَيَّ عُمَرُ وَعَلَيْهِ قَمِيصٌ يَجُرُّهُ " ، قَالُوا : فَمَا أَوَّلْتَ ذَاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " الدِّينُ " .
It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Once I was sleeping and I saw in a dream that people were being presented before me and they were wearing shirts, but some people's shirts reached their chests and some were lower than that. When Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by me, the shirt he was wearing was dragging on the ground. The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! What interpretation did you give to this?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Religion.
