ومن مسند بني هاشمFrom the Musnad of Banu Hashim
مُسْنَدُ عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمَاMusnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them)
Hadith 2317

(حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ إِلَى مُؤْتَةَ ، فَاسْتَعْمَلَ زَيْدًا ، فَإِنْ قُتِلَ زَيْدٌ ، فَجَعْفَرٌ ، فَإِنْ قُتِلَ جَعْفَرٌ ، فَابْنُ رَوَاحَةَ ، فَتَخَلَّفَ ابْنُ رَوَاحَةَ ، فَجَمَّعَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَآهُ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا خَلَّفَكَ ؟ " , قَالَ : أُجَمِّعُ مَعَكَ , قَالَ : " لَغَدْوَةٌ أَوْ رَوْحَةٌ ، خَيْرٌ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا " .
And once the Prophet (peace be upon him) sent an expedition towards Mu'tah and appointed Sayyiduna Zaid bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him) as its commander. In case he was martyred, Sayyiduna Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) was to be appointed, and if he was martyred, then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) was to be appointed. Sayyiduna Ibn Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) stayed behind and participated in the Friday prayer with the Prophet (peace be upon him). When the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw him, he said, "What prevented you from setting out with your companions in the morning?" He replied, "I thought I would perform the Friday prayer with you and then join them." Upon this, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Going out in the way of Allah in the morning or evening is better than the world and whatever is in it."
