حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ حَسَّانَ بنِ عَطِيَّةَ ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بنِ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ ذِي مِخْمَرٍ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَاب رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " سَتُصَالِحُكُمْ الرُّومُ صُلْحًا آمِنًا ، ثُمَّ تَغْزُونَ وَهُمْ عَدُوًّا ، فَتُنْصَرُونَ وَتَسْلَمُونَ وَتَغْنَمُونَ ، ثُمَّ تَنْصَرِفُونَ حَتَّى تَنْزِلُوا بمَرْجٍ ذِي تُلُولٍ ، فَيَرْفَعُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ النَّصْرَانِيَّةِ صَلِيبا ، فَيَقُولُ : غَلَب الصَّلِيب ، فَيَغْضَب رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ، فَيَقُومُ إِلَيْهِ فَيَدُقُّهُ ، فَعِنْدَ ذَلِكَ تَغْدِرُ الرُّومُ ، وَيَجْمَعُونَ لِلْمَلْحَمَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Dhu Mikhmar (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Soon the Romans will make a peace treaty of security with you, then you will fight together against a common enemy. You will be victorious in that battle and will return safely with spoils of war. When you reach a place called "Dhi Tulul," a Christian will raise a cross and say, "The cross has prevailed." At this, a Muslim will become angry and will stand up to respond to him. From there, the Romans will break the treaty and begin preparations for war.
