Hadith 23139

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبةُ ، عَنْ أَبي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ جُرَيٍّ النَّهْدِيِّ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بنِي سُلَيْمٍ أَنّ النَّبيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَقَدَ فِي يَدِهِ ، أَوْ فِي يَدِ السُّلَمِيِّ ، فَقَالَ : " سُبحَانَ اللَّهِ نِصْفُ الْمِيزَانِ ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ يَمْلَأُ الْمِيزَانَ ، وَاللَّهُ أَكْبرُ يَمْلَأُ مَا بيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ ، وَالطُّهُورُ نِصْفُ الإيمانِ ، وَالصَّوْمُ نِصْفُ الصَّبرِ " .
It is narrated from a companion of Banu Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) counted these things on the fingers of his blessed hand: "Subhan Allah" is equal to half the scale of deeds; "Alhamdulillah" fills the scale of deeds; the phrase "Allahu Akbar" fills all the space between the earth and the sky; cleanliness is half of faith, and fasting is half of patience.
