حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بنُ عِيسَى ، أَخْبرَنِي مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بنِ رُومَانَ ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بنِ خَوَّاتِ بنِ جُبيْرٍ ، عَمَّنْ صَلَّى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ يَوْمِ الرِّقاعِ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ : " أَنَّ طَائِفَةً صَفَّتْ مَعَهُ ، وَطَائِفَةً وِجَاهَ الْعَدُوِّ ، فَصَلَّى بالَّتِي مَعَهُ رَكْعَةً ، ثُمَّ ثَبتَ قَائِمًا وَأَتَمُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ ، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفُوا ، فَصَفُّوا وِجَاهَ الْعَدُوِّ ، وَجَاءَتْ الطَّائِفَةُ الْأُخْرَى ، فَصَلَّى بهِمْ الرَّكْعَةَ الَّتِي بقِيَتْ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ ، ثُمَّ ثَبتَ جَالِسًا وَأَتَمُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ " ، قَالَ مَالِكٌ : وَهَذَا أَحَب مَا سَمِعْتُ إِلَيَّ فِي صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ.
It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) "who performed the prayer of fear with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) during the expedition of Dhat al-Riqa’," that one group formed rows with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the other group went in front of the enemy. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led the group with him in one rak’ah, then remained standing until those behind completed their prayer and went back to form rows in front of the enemy. Then the other group came, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led them in the remaining rak’ah of his prayer, then remained seated until they completed their prayer, then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned in salam with them.
