Hadith 23101

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبةُ ، حَدَّثَنِي سَلْمٌ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبدَ اللَّهِ بنَ أَبي الْهُذَيْلِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي صَاحِب لِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " تَبا لِلذَّهَب وَالْفِضَّةِ " ، قَالَ : فَحَدَّثَنِي صَاحِبي : أَنَّهُ انْطَلَقَ مَعَ عُمَرَ بنِ الْخَطَّاب رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَوْلُكَ : " تَبا لِلذَّهَب وَالْفِضَّةِ " مَاذَا ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لِسَانًا ذَاكِرًا ، وَقَلْبا شَاكِرًا ، وَزَوْجَةً تُعِينُ عَلَى الْآخِرَةِ " .
It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Destruction is for gold and silver." He (the Companion) came into the presence of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) along with Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! You have said that destruction is for gold and silver, then what should a person have?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A tongue that remembers (Allah), a heart that is grateful, and a wife who helps in matters of the Hereafter."
