Hadith 231

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا أَقْبَلَ اللَّيْلُ ، وَأَدْبَرَ النَّهَارُ ، وَغَابَتْ الشَّمْسُ ، فَقَدْ أَفْطَرْتَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When night comes and the day departs and the sun sets, then you should break your fast (meaning the east and the west)."
