Hadith 23063

حَدَّثَنَا عَبدُ اللَّهِ بنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبيهِ ، عَنْ عُبيْدِ اللَّهِ بنِ عَدِيٍّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبرَنِي رَجُلَانِ أَنَّهُمَا أَتَيَا النَّبيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ يَسْأَلَانِهِ الصَّدَقَةَ ، قَالَ : فَرَفَعَ فِيهِمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْبصَرَ وَخَفَضَهُ ، فَرَآهُمَا رَجُلَيْنِ جَلْدَيْنِ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنْ شِئْتُمَا أَعْطَيْتُكُمَا مِنْهَا ، وَلَا حَظَّ لِغَنِيٍّ وَلَا لِقَوِيٍّ مُكْتَسِب " .
Two men once came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with a request for charity and donations. The Prophet (peace be upon him) looked up and observed them from head to toe and found them healthy and strong. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "If you wish, I will give to you, but there is no share in this for a wealthy person, nor for one who is strong and able to earn."
