حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بنِ مَرْثَدٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بنِ برَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبيهِ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْفَتْحِ فَتْحُ مَكَّةَ ، تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ : رَأَيْتُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، صَنَعْتَ الْيَوْمَ شَيْئًا لَمْ تَكُنْ تَصْنَعُهُ ! قَالَ : " عَمْدًا صَنَعْتُهُ يَا عُمَرُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of victory, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed several prayers with a single ablution. So Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, "Today you have done something which you have never done before?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I have done this deliberately."
