Hadith 22944

حَدَّثَنَا الْخُزَاعِيُّ وَهُوَ أَبو سَلَمَةَ , أَخْبرَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ أَبي بكْرِ بنِ أَحْمَرَ اسْمُهُ جِبرِيلُ ، عَنِ ابنِ برَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبيهِ ، قَالَ تُوُفِّيَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَزْدِ ، فَلَمْ يَدَعْ وَارِثًا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْتَمِسُوا لَهُ وَارِثًا ، الْتَمِسُوا لَهُ ذَا رَحِمٍ " ، قَالَ : فَلَمْ يُوجَدْ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ادْفَعُوهُ إِلَى أَكْبرِ خُزَاعَةَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man from the tribe of Azd passed away and did not leave behind any heir. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Find his heir, find his close relative." But despite searching, none could be found. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give his wealth to the eldest man of Khuza'ah."
