حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْفُضَيْلِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي يَحْيَى ، عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَالْخَنْدَقِ فَأَخَذَ الْكِرْزِينَ فَحَفَرَ بِهِ ، فَصَادَفَ حَجَرًا ، فَضَحِكَ ، قِيلَ : مَا يُضْحِكُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : " ضَحِكْتُ مِنْ نَاسٍ يُؤْتَى بِهِمْ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْمَشْرِقِ فِي النُّكُولِ يُسَاقُونَ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) that I was with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the time of the Battle of the Trench. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took a large pickaxe and began to dig the trench. Suddenly, a stone appeared in front of him, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to laugh. Someone asked the reason for his laughter, so he replied: I am laughing at those people who will be brought from the east in chains and driven towards Paradise.
