حَدَّثَنَا رِبْعِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذُبَابٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : " مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَاهِرًا يَدَيْهِ قَطُّ يَدْعُو عَلَى مِنْبَرٍ وَلَا غَيْرِهِ ، مَا كَانَ يَدْعُو إِلَّا يَضَعُ يَدَيْهِ حَذْوَ مَنْكِبَيْهِ ، وَيُشِيرُ بِإِصْبَعِهِ إِشَارَةً " . .
It is narrated from Hazrat Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) that I never saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spreading his hands while supplicating on the pulpit or anywhere else. Whenever the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated, he would keep his hands equal to his shoulders in front of him and would gesture with his finger.
