حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مُحَيْرِيزٍ ، عَنِ الصُّنَابِحِيِّ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَوْتِ فَبَكَيْتُ ، فَقَالَ : مَهْلًا لِمَ تَبْكِي ؟ فَوَاللَّهِ لَئِنْ اسْتُشْهِدْتُ لَأَشْهَدَنَّ لَكَ ، وَلَئِنْ شُفِّعْتُ لَأَشْفَعَنَّ لَكَ ، وَلَئِنْ اسْتَطَعْتُ لَأَنْفَعَنَّكَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : وَاللَّهِ مَا حَدِيثٌ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَكُمْ فِيهِ خَيْرٌ إِلَّا حَدَّثْتُكُمُوهُ ، إِلَّا حَدِيثًا وَاحِدًا سَوْفَ أُحَدِّثُكُمُوهُ الْيَوْمَ ، وَقَدْ أُحِيطَ بِنَفْسِي ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَنْ شَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، حُرِّمَ عَلَى النَّارِ " , حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ مِثْلَهُ ، قَالَ : " حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى عَلَيْهِ النَّارَ ".
Sanabahi says that when the last moments of the life of Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) came, I was present in his service and began to weep. If intercession is accepted, I will intercede for you, and as much as is within my power, I will benefit you. Then he said, "Whatever hadith I heard from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and in which there is any good for you, by Allah! I have conveyed it to you. However, there is one hadith which I am narrating to you today while I am surrounded (by death). I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever testifies that there is no deity except Allah and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah, then Allah makes the fire of Hell forbidden for him."
