Hadith 22662

It is narrated from Hazrat Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we set out with the intention of performing Hajj. When we reached the place of Arj, we saw a snake writhing and shortly thereafter it died. A man took a cloth from his belongings, wrapped the snake in it, dug the ground, and buried it. When we reached Makkah Mukarramah, we were in Masjid al-Haram when a man came to us and stopped, saying, "Who among you is the companion of Amr bin Jabir?" We said, "We do not know." Then he asked, "Who is the one who shrouded and buried that snake?" People pointed towards that man. He said, "May Allah reward you with goodness. He was the last to die among the nine men who came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to listen to the Holy Qur'an."
