حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ قَابُوسَ بْنِ مُخَارِقٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَسْرِقَنِي أَوْ يَأْخُذَ مِنِّي مَالِي مَا تَأْمُرُنِي بِهِ ؟ قَالَ : " تُعْظِّمُ عَلَيْهِ بِاللَّهِ , قَالَ : فَإِنْ فَعَلْتُ فَلَمْ يَنْتَهِ ؟ قَالَ : تَسْتَعْدِي السُّلْطَانَ , قَالَ : فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ بِقُرْبِي مِنْهُمْ أَحَدٌ ؟ قَالَ : تُجَاهِدُهُ أَوْ تُقَاتِلُهُ حَتَّى تُكْتَبَ فِي شُهَدَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ ، أَوْ تَمْنَعَ مَالَكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Makharraq (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "Tell me, if someone comes to me with the intention of stealing from me or snatching my wealth, what do you command me regarding him?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Make clear to him the importance of Allah's commands." He said, "If I do that but he still does not desist from his intention, then what should I do?" The Prophet said, "Seek help against him from the ruler." He asked, "If there is no other Muslim with me (and he attacks me immediately), then what should I do?" The Prophet said, "Then you also fight him until you are written among the martyrs of the Hereafter or you save your wealth."
