حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ عُرْفُطَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَا خَالِدُ ، " إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ بَعْدِي أَحْدَاثٌ وَفِتَنٌ وَاخْتِلَافٌ ، فَإِنْ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَكُونَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ الْمَقْتُولَ لَا الْقَاتِلَ ، فَافْعَلْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Khalid bin Urfatah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: O Khalid! After me, incidents, tribulations, and differences will arise. If you have the strength within you to become one of Allah's servants who is killed and not the killer, then do so.
