حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنِي قَيْسُ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : أَتَى رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ إِنِّي أَتَأَخَّرُ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ مِنْ أَجْلِ فُلَانٍ مِمَّا يُطِيلُ بِنَا ، فَمَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَشَدَّ غَضَبًا فِي مَوْعِظَةٍ مِنْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، إِنَّ مِنْكُمْ لَمُنَفِّرِينَ ، فَأَيُّكُمْ مَا صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ فَلْيَتَجَوَّزْ ، فَإِنَّ فِيهِمْ الضَّعِيفَ وَالْكَبِيرَ وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I think that such-and-such a man (out of fear of his imam, I will miss the Fajr prayer because he leads us in a very long prayer)." The narrator says, "I have never seen the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) more angry during a sermon than on that day." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O people! Some of you make others dislike (the prayer). Whoever among you leads the people in prayer should make it light, because among the worshippers are the weak, the elderly, and those with needs."
