Hashraj bin Ziyad narrates from his grandmother that I went out with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on the occasion of the Battle of Khaybar. At that time, I was the sixth among six women. When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) learned that women were also with him, he sent a message to us asking, "Why have you come out and with whose permission have you come out?" We replied that we have come out so that we may also receive a share, we can mix and serve sattu (barley drink) to the people, we have supplies for treating the sick, we will spin hair, and in the way of Allah, we will help them through this. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "You all go back." When Allah granted victory over Khaybar, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also granted us a share like the men. I asked my grandmother, "Grandmother! What share did the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) give you?" She replied, "Dates."
