حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , وَغَيْرُهُ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُطَرِّفٍ , عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ , عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " الْحَيَاءُ وَالْعِيُّ شُعْبَتَانِ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ , وَالْبَذَاءُ وَالْبَيَانُ شُعْبَتَانِ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Modesty and harmless speech are two branches of faith, while obscene talk and unnecessary speech are two branches of hypocrisy.
