It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once slept and the sound of his snoring was heard, then he stood up and led the prayer without performing ablution. Ikrimah says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was protected from breaking ablution even in the state of sleep.
