Hadith 21922

It is narrated from Hazrat Safina (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a man came as a guest to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). He prepared food for him, so Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "If we invite the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), he would also eat with us." So they sent for the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came. When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) held the door's handles, he saw that a curtain was hanging in one corner of the house. As soon as the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saw it, he turned back. Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), "Go after him and ask the reason for his return." Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) followed and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Why did you return?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "It is not appropriate for me or for any Prophet to enter a house which is adorned and decorated in such a manner."
