حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , أخبرَنَا سُفْيَانُ , حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي , عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ , عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ , عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْجَدَلِيِّ , عَنْ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ , قَالَ : " جَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ لِلْمُسَافِرِ , وَيَوْمًا وَلَيْلَةً لِلْمُقِيمِ " وَأَيْمُ اللَّهِ لَوْ مَضَى السَّائِلُ فِي مَسْأَلَتِهِ لَجَعَلَهَا خَمْسًا.
It is narrated from Hazrat Khuzaimah bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say that a traveler can wipe over his leather socks for three nights, and a resident for one day and one night. By Allah! If the questioner had requested for more days, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would have granted more.
