حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ , حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ , عَنْ قَتَادَةَ , عَنْ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ , عَنِ النَّخَعِيِّ , عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْجَدَلِيِّ , عَنْ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ , أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ لِلْمُسَافِرِ , وَيَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ لِلْمُقِيمِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Khuzaimah bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say that a traveler can wipe over his leather socks for three nights, and a resident for one day and one night.
