حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ الْقُرْدُوسِيُّ , عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ , عَنْ رَجُلٍ حَدَّثَهُ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ قَالَ : سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ إِعْطَاءِ السُّلْطَانِ , قَالَ : " مَا آتَاكَ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ مِنْ غَيْرِ مَسْأَلَةٍ وَلَا إِشْرَافٍ , فَخُذْهُ وَتَمَوَّلْهُ " , قَالَ : وَقَالَ الْحَسَنُ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ : لَا بَأْسَ بِهَا مَا لَمْ تَرْحَلْ إِلَيْهَا , أَوْ تَشَرَّفْ لَهَا.
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that a person asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the ruling on accepting gifts and grants from a king. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Without asking and without desiring, whatever Allah grants you, accept it, and benefit from it."
