حَدَّثَنَا فَيَّاضُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الرَّقِّيُّ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ بُرْقَانَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ : " نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْمُخَابَرَةِ " ، قَالَ : وَقِيلَ لَهُ : مَا الْمُخَابَرَةُ ؟ قَالَ : " أَنْ تَأْخُذَ الْأَرْضَ بِنِصْفٍ أَوْ بِثُلُثٍ أَوْ بِرُبُعٍ ، أَوْ بِأَشْبَاهِ هَذَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from "Mukhābarah." I asked about the meaning of "Mukhābarah," so he said: taking land on sharecropping in exchange for half, a third, or a quarter of the produce.
