حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ ؟ فَقَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُطِيلُ الْقِيَامَ ، وَيُحَرِّكُ شَفَتَيْهِ " .
Someone asked Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) about the recitation in the Zuhr and Asr prayers, so he replied that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to prolong the standing in them and would move his lips.
