حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا كَهْمَسُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو السَّلِيلِ ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ، قَالَ : جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتْلُو عَلَيَّ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا سورة الطلاق آية 2 ، حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنَ الْآيَةِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ ، لَوْ أَنَّ النَّاسَ كُلَّهُمْ أَخَذُوا بِهَا لَكَفَتْهُمْ " ، قَالَ : فَجَعَلَ يَتْلُوِهَا ، وَيُرَدِّدُهَا عَلَيَّ حَتَّى نَعَسْتُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ ، كَيْفَ تَصْنَعُ إِنْ أُخْرِجْتَ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ ؟ " قَالَ : قُلْتُ : إِلَى السَّعَةِ وَالدَّعَةِ ، أَنْطَلِقُ حَتَّى أَكُونَ حَمَامَةً مِنْ حَمَامِ مَكَّةَ ، قَالَ : " كَيْفَ تَصْنَعُ إِنْ أُخْرِجْتَ مِنْ مَكَّةَ ؟ " قَالَ : قُلْتُ : إِلَى السَّعَةِ وَالدَّعَةِ ، إِلَى الشَّامِ وَالْأَرْضِ الْمُقَدَّسَةِ ، قَالَ : " كَيْفَ تَصْنَعُ إِنْ أُخْرِجْتَ مِنَ الشَّامِ ؟ " قَالَ : قُلْتُ : إِذًا وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ أَضَعَ سَيْفِي عَلَى عَاتِقِي ، قَالَ : " أَوَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ؟ " قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَوَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ؟ ! قَالَ : " تَسْمَعُ وَتُطِيعُ وَإِنْ كَانَ عَبْدًا حَبَشِيًّا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began reciting this verse before me: "And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out" until he finished it. Then he said, "O Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), if all of humanity were to act upon this, this verse would suffice them as well." Then the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated it before me so many times that I became drowsy under its effect. Then he said, "O Abu Dharr! When you are expelled from Madinah Munawwarah, what will you do?" I replied, "I will choose the way of accommodation and leave it, and go and become like a pigeon of the Haram of Makkah." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If you are expelled from there as well, what will you do?" I replied, "Even then, I will choose the way of accommodation and leave it, and go to Shaam and the Holy Land." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If you are expelled from Shaam as well, what will you do?" I replied, "Then, by the One Who sent you with the truth, I will place my sword on my shoulder." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Shall I not tell you a better way than this?" I replied, "Is there a way better than this?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Listen and obey, even if your ruler is an Abyssinian slave."
