Hadith 21366

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورٌ ، عَنْ رِبْعِيٍّ ، عَنْ خَرَشَةَ بْنِ الْحُرِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَخَذَ مَضْجَعَهُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ، قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا " وَإِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ قَالَ : " الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would come to his bed at night, he would say: "O Allah! In Your name we live and die." And when he would wake up, he would say: "All praise is due to Allah who gave us life after causing us to die, and to Him is the gathering."
