Hadith 21353

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ قَامَ إِلَيْهِ أَعْرَابِيٌّ فِيهِ جَفَاءٌ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَكَلَنَا الضَّبُعُ ! فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " غَيْرُ ذَلِكَ أَخْوَفُ لِي عَلَيْكُمْ ، حِينَ تُصَبُّ عَلَيْكُمْ الدُّنْيَا صَبًّا ، فَيَا لَيْتَ أُمَّتِي لَا يَتَحَلَّوْنَ الذَّهَبَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering a sermon when a hard-natured Bedouin stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Famine will consume us." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I fear another thing for you regarding yourselves: when the world will be poured upon you. I wish that at that time my Ummah would not wear gold jewelry."
