It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once at the time of sunset, I was in the mosque with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Abu Dharr! Do you know where this sun goes?" I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "It goes and prostrates before its Lord, then seeks permission to return, which is granted to it. When it is said to it, 'Return to where you came from,' it returns to its rising place, and that is its resting place." Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "The sun runs on its fixed course."
