Abdullah bin Harith says that once I and Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) were standing in the shade of the fortress of Hassan when Hazrat Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me, "Do you not feel how much people have become engrossed in seeking the world?" I replied, "Why not?" He said, "I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that soon the river Euphrates will uncover a mountain of gold. When people hear of this, they will head towards it, and those who are present there will say, 'If we allow people to come here freely, they will take all this gold.' So people will fight, until out of every hundred, ninety-nine will be killed."
