It is narrated from Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the caliphate of Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him), the Holy Qur'an was compiled in the form of manuscripts. Some individuals would write, and Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) would dictate to them. When they reached this verse of Surah Bara'ah: "Then they turned away, Allah turned their hearts..." other companions (may Allah be pleased with them) thought that these were the last verses revealed of the Holy Qur'an. But Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said to them that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had recited to him two more verses after this: "There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves; grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concerned over you and to the believers is kind and merciful. But if they turn away, [O Muhammad], say, 'Sufficient for me is Allah; there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.'" And he said that these are the verses which were revealed last in the Holy Qur'an, and the conclusion of the Holy Qur'an was also upon those verses with which the revelation began, that is, in the name of Allah, besides whom there is no deity. Hazrat Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) was referring to this verse: "And We did not send any messenger before you except that We revealed to him that there is no deity except Me, so worship Me."
