حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُؤْمِنِ الْمُقْرِئُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ شَقِيقٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الرَّازِيُّ ، عَنْ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، قَالَ : انْكَسَفَتْ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى بِهِمْ ، فَقَرَأَ بِسُورَةٍ مِنَ الطُّوَلِ ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ خَمْسَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ الثَّانِيَةَ فَقَرَأَ بِسُورَةٍ مِنَ الطُّوَلِ ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ خَمْسَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ جَلَسَ كَمَا هُوَ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةِ يَدْعُو حَتَّى انْجَلَى كُسُوفُهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the blessed era of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), there was once a solar eclipse. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the people in prayer, recited a long surah in it, performed five bowings (ruku') and two prostrations (sujood). Then in the second rak'ah, he stood and recited a long surah, performed five bowings and two prostrations. Then, as usual, he sat facing the qiblah and began to supplicate until the solar eclipse ended.
